This week, we've been tasked with creating characters for the world we've redesigned, the demented brain. Interestingly enough, Natasha had already come up with an idea for the people who would inhabit the world, which would be these strange neuron-like creatures that inhabit the Capital and the Mines, as well as the Art and Religious sectors of the brain. These creatures are basically mindless task workers that comprise the intelligence of a brain, like regular neurons do.
The main difference between them and neurons is that these creatures are more human. It's a representation of the functions the brain performs.
Since Natasha had already come up with this idea, and we all liked it, we decided to focus on the demented side of the brain, and the diseases that can destroy it. My idea was to represent the imperceptible parasites of the brain by having creatures that use the brain's electrical impulses to move around, eventually latching on to neurons and draining them of energy until moving on. Based on actual brain parasites, I figured a simple design of two curving tentacles that latch on to things along with a viscous sack where the energy is processed.
As more energy is taken, the parasite grows, until it is larger than the neuron, at which point the neuron dies, and the parasite moves on to another host.
Our other group ideas were as follows:
A worm-like creature that is far larger than the neuron people, that inhales them whole, and uses it's sharp teeth and mouth to navigate and devour. This was Natasha's idea.
Next, Megan drew up an idea for the appearance of a demented brain, and how that would look from a scientific perspective (That's my understanding of the idea, anyways).
Due to the Storm on the 17th of October, Class was cancelled and we weren't able to present and get new tasks for the coming week. As a result, we'd continued to work on these Ideas, and I personally began thinking about how to present it.
