Week 8
Conann wasn't in this Monday, so we got a lecture about Chinese Student animation in Shenyang and elsewhere. It was definitely interesting to see the different in culture, and the way that animation is developing in the country. It actually reminds me a bit of Irish Animation, and how a lot of the work starts off in Animation courses, and eventually trickles into larger projects from Irish Production companies. It's also nice to see that people all around the world are doing similar courses to ours.
Since we didn't get any new task for the week, I will continue with storyboarding and drawing tonals. I feel like a lot of work can still be done on the project.
In reflection of the last week's work, I think i made some important personal steps in storyboarding. I figured out a few techniques to make storyboards pop out a bit more, and I think that's visible in the later sketches I made. I will try and continue playing with light and depth. If I'm happy with that, I might attempt to work in different depths-of-field and camera lenses to the images.
We also put together a story for the project, based on a couple different sources, namely The Secret of NIMH. The story is below:

I remembered this thing I was reading, nicknamed the “Mouse Utopia Experiments”. They basically put hundreds of mice in a small living space with unlimited food, and the proximity caused the society to collapse, and eventually die because the mice were too busy fighting each other to care for their babies, leading to them not knowing how to raise new mice.
The Secret of NIMH is based off of this too.
