Semester 2 Week 2 3D

Modelling Tutorial:

The modelling tutorial this week was a good refresher, but it wasn't anything new from what I've done before. The Buoys were a good way to refresh on all the keyboard shortcuts and useful tips.

I did learn that you can lock where the manipulators lock to, to get really precise movements, which was helpful when dealing with vertices. I finished the Buoys pretty quickly, and dropped them into a really simple scene.

Floating City:

We were introduced to the Floating City project this week, and I grouped up with Matthias Jacques, Sinead O'Connor, and Shannon McAfee.

Meeting on the 13th, we looked at a couple cities, and landed on Prague. I wanted to do Rio de Janeiro, but there wasn't much enthusiasm for that, so we opted for Sinead's suggestion.

To start, I looked at a bunch of statistical data from the Czech government, the census, and other sources, listed here:

This info wasn't really all that surprising, but it would be useful to mention a few things about the city's statistics, like the population, foreign population in the city, wealth, and maybe even housing and employment stats, but the more interesting things about the city seem to be the nightlife, the buildings, and the history. So, I think we should focus on those aspects. The Castle, the Jewish quarter, and other buildings, churches and such should probably be the highlights, in my opinion.'

For this week, I think we're just going to be coming up with ideas, doing research, and brainstorming.
Next week I think we'll start putting the project together.
