I've had some personal struggles this week, so I wasn't as involved in the course as I should have been. I had to miss the optional class since I was visiting family, and I mixed up my thursday class time, and had to go into a different group. So, I was out of it this week, and struggled to focus and work well. We did a lot of really rough drawings that tried to get the motion of the model done, but I really had trouble getting anything that looked lifelike or even conveyed any kind of force like in the book on the reading list.
I improved a bit through the class, but I think that was just because I wasn't drawing with broad strokes at the beginning, and was really tight, and Mike eventually told me to loosen up my drawings.

These drawings were some of the best ones I made. I think that I'm still well behind my classmates in this class, and I don't really know how to move forwards at the moment, since I don't really see a lot of progression in my own work.

The other task we did in class was to draw the model's face for a minute, and then switch to our Neighbour's drawing and continue, so we'd have a sense of the different angles of the face. It was a tough job at first, but as things moved around the room, I got more confident and could make better judgements about how to draw. I think it turned out alright, but not really because of me. I don't think I made significant contributions to the drawings, although I did get to see how other people saw the model, which might have helped me draw him better.
Looking at it again, though, it doesn't look right at all, probably because my initial perception of his face was was off, and couldn't really be fixed by the others. At the least, it looks like the tonality turned out alright.
I messed up my homework this week too, and I don't know how I managed to. I just drew different people from different imaginary angles, and what I was supposed to do was much simpler; I had to draw a cube from two different angles and draw the tonality onto it. I'll have to that work this week along with the homework. This week feels a bit impossible for me to accomplish. I feel really unprepared, since my character design, tonality, perspective and shape are all well behind what I need to do this task well.
