Blueprint Meeting & Progress
So we were meaning to meet on Monday to check up on each other's blueprints, but Emma and Kae weren't around on monday, so Sinead, Shannon, Matthias and I were the only ones that met up. We showed each other our work. I for one had put together a really simple diagram in photoshop (which was interesting to finally start learning) of the overall plan of the city's regions.
The strange names are all the different regions in Prague that people have been working on.
So I think it looks good and that we all agree on this design. Shannon & Sinead both had simple sketches on paper of their regions. Shannon's park looks great, as does Sinead's idea, even if it's a bit less detailed. Matthias had a really rough sketch, but he was also nearly finished making the golem.
Sinead's modeling of the Prague castle, and the progress in the 3D modelling overall, are the main concerns right now. Sinead has been making small parts of the castle one by one, with the intention of copying it again and again because there's a lot of features on the castle that look the same. I don't quite see her full plan for the city, and I'm a bit worried she's going to end up with something much more detailed and dedicated to the actual city than the others. This is because Matthias wanted to put in the golem, which is a mythological creature that's associated with the city. So, right now we had a higly detailed model of the castle on one level, and then a comical golem on the other. We'll have to continue communicating about this as we move forward so we keep to the same style.
I'll have my 3D models done this week, and then I'll put together the storyboard and the animation. My section is the only part that's really getting animated, & I think it's fair since I've probably had a bit less 3D modelling to do than the others.
I'm a bit worried about the size of our group and the lack of communication, a bit like the ice world project from the first semester. We haven't seen each other that much, partly because there's a group of us that haven't been showing up to lectures and class every day, so it's harder to communicate on these projects.
This one is still in pretty early stages though, so hopefully people come together more as the project continues, although I have to say it's a bit doubtful.
We've kept to schedule so far, which is good, but I think that the deadline we set for ourselves this week might be tough for people to meet.
Personally, I'm a bit unhappy with the role I've taken in the project. I think I've been pretty positive and encouraging, but I've also taken a bit of a larger role in the group, and I'm not sure if it's a good thing. I don't want to start forcing people around, but we do need to get moving on this project, so I'm conflicted in my position. I want to work collaboratively and hear each other's ideas so we can motivate each other, but it isn't really happening at the moment. I think the deadlines were mostly my idea, and I don't know if that was a good decision or not, since I'm kind of becoming an organizer.
