Semester 2 Week 6 3D

Class

In class we ran through rigging a simple character. While I don't think I picked up everything this class because I was tired after a long week, I got the sense that rigging isn't as difficult as I thought it was. For simple characters, it doesn't even seem to take all that long.

I also have a better sense of how rigging works. It's more like making handles for the models more than anything else. I've already made a basic rig for a ball bounce, so I hope more complicated rigging isn't too much of a jump.

I'll have to go back to this class though, (it was recorded) because I missed a bunch of steps in the rigging process.

Floating City.

Not much has happened this week, and I'm getting a bit frustrated with my group. I really haven't seen much work from other team members, and I haven't really seen them much at all. We had originally planned to have all of the 3D models done by last Monday, and evidently that hasn't happened. I had hoped to be a bit ahead of schedule at this point, because there's a bunch of things we've forgotten we have to do. For example, we need a factoid for each shot of the scene, and we haven't really thought about that yet. Also, while I've put in camera shots and movements to prep for when the cities are put down, I think we'll need to go back and change these a bunch, because the camera movement is very mechanical and lifeless.

The gray buildings on the top image are what I've gotten from Emma, and the Golem and city region are what I've gotten from Matthias.

Hopefully the group will come together a bit more as the deadline approaches. I'd also like a bit of help with the animation, lighting, editing, and rendering of the scene further down the road.

That's all I really have to say this week. For now, I'll try and work on the lighting and the camera work so that it all looks good when people finish their modelling.
