Semester 2 Life Drawing Week 7 (Class)

Life Drawing

The Wednesday, 15th March Life Drawing Class was the last supplementary one I'll be doing. It worked out well, because there wasn't a Thursday class.

The class overall went well, and was more of the same from last week. I think I've done well lately, and I've started to get more accuracy in my drawings. There are two things I'm still unhappy with, though. I need to use more perspective, and I need to loosen up my drawings.

Firstly, I think that my drawings lack depth, especially lately. I've been forgetting about drawing the character's surroundings, and I should try and do that for every drawing from now on. I'm nearly just drawing the model as a completely flat character, and I need to stop.

Secondly, I need to draw looser. For the past month or so, I've been steadily tightening up my drawings, and I need to get looser. I haven't been using s curves and c curves, which would give a lot more life (if less accuracy) to my drawings. This is something I tried to do on Wednesday.

We did a bunch of drawings of the model wearing a robe, a new challenge for me. I rarely draw clothes any more, so it was refreshing to get back to it. I struggled to make the robe feel like it had weight, and I think that most of my attempts at drawing the robe turned into shapeless blobs. Hopefully we'll do more of this in Life Drawing, so I can make clothing look like it holds weight, and look real.

There isn't Life Drawing next week either, so I guess I get a break from it.
